This week marks over 25 days since my brother was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident.
He opened both eyes late last week, and is recognizing us as he sees us although he is still unable to speak. He has a good grip with his right hand, although his use of it is still limited. His left arm he does not move at all, and moves his left fingers just a little. I lifted his left arm in my hand Saturday and it was limp weight, but we know he has feeling in it. He was supposed to go to a rehabilitation center this past Monday to begin physical therapy for his left arm, speech, and his walking, but Sunday he was put back into ICU with pneumonia and dehydration.
This week he has begun doing much better, and responding, as the fluid is taken off his lungs. He has been wide awake and asking for something to write on. He asked what happened, and why he was there? When his wife told him he had been in a motorcycle accident, and how long he had been there, he eyes were wide with surprise. He also made a walking motion with two of his fingers asking if he could walk. She told him yes, but his legs were weak form having been in the hospital for over three weeks. He is in good spirits. He shook his father-in-law's had and began trying to thumb wrestle. He is expected to be in ICU for most of this week. We are hoping he begins physical therapy soon after.
Things are moving slowly, but they are moving in a good direction! He was hurt badly. I had at first thought he would just suddenly wake up and have a massive headache, but of course he was hurt worse than that, and was literally at deaths door but for the mercy of God. The important thing is he is recovering, and he will be fine. It will just take time. I am so very thankful for the life of my brother.
I have no doubt that God has been with him, and my family continually and, as always, we are thankful for your prayers.
